I’ve been in Manchester most of the week, although this hasn’t been apparent from the pictures. Victoria station, after years of being a rather dowdy old hag, is starting to recover from her major surgery and looking rather promising with it. Compare this picture to the last shot of platform 1: the light wasn’t as good today, but overall, it’s a big improvement. (Having inserted that link I note that shot was taken exactly 400 days ago, day 931.)
One assumes that he fitted through the window on the way out, so will also fit through on the way back. Otherwise, he’s in difficulty — there is nothing below him except a ten-foot drop to the Rochdale Canal.
Not the most exciting photo. Not the most exciting day. But the PC Gamer magazine shines bright and interesting, as far as Joe is concerned.
My day in Manchester was OK but I had a greatly extended journey home for reasons that are too ridiculous to report here. But it was nice to come home to a beautiful evening. This is the tree in our allotment garden, which actually I keep wanting to get cut down, but we’ll give it its due credit tonight. So nice to still have light in the sky at this time of night, as well.
Rather dull and corporate I know, but it epitomised my day. Still, the Mac is fixed again after only a short time out, and for free, so thank you Apple.
Well, it’s been a damn good run on the weather — a week in California and then 6 days at home with barely a real cloud to be seen. But today…. it changed. I guess this photographer thought there was mileage in photos of wet cobbles, too.
The last few days’ photos have come out late because my Mac broke on Friday, although it is better now (thanks to the tender attentions of its progenitors, the Apple Store). But that was only the first major breakage of the day — this beauty (our front door) kept us in most of the afternoon until the locksmith came round. That key shouldn’t be stuck at that angle, believe me.
There’s a lot of it about… particularly among the ewe population of northern England.
Though the choice of photo didn’t reflect this, I was walking in the Lake District yesterday, and I’m going to walk there again tomorrow — so to mark the day inbetween, here’s another version of the Lakeland panorama, cast in metal and placed on Morecambe promenade as a view indicator. Attractive enough in its own right, too, on another beautiful day.
