Diamond is as much part of the Railway pack as anyone, whether human or canine. She’s getting old now, as you can tell, so is not out as often as she might be — something that will come to be the case for all of us, in time, I am sure.
Back home, back to the grey and gloom of a northern December, the everyday of the train journey to Manchester (here at Littleborough). It had to happen. LIke the birds speckled across this shot, let’s just live with it.
Although I quite like the image of this guy’s golden sunglasses, the significance is more carried by what is visible behind his head; that table sits, as did we, in the beer garden of the White Swan in Hebden Bridge. Yes folks, the pubs are open again — if you want to wrap up and go al fresco, anyway. Hurrah for that at least.
The post-dinner Christmas Food Babies were walked off beside the melancholy greyness of Morecambe Bay. Clare serves as the model for the second time in a week. I hope you had a happy day, wherever you are, whatever you were doing.
Day one of Welcome Week — and so there came a time in the day when we all needed to have a break. Picture taken through my office window, making it the third in the last five days to be taken through glass. It also adds to the increasing lead of the 3.00 – 3.55pm time slot when it comes to the overall pattern of shot timing (see the stats), a statistical blip I attribute mainly to football matches kicking off at 3pm. But that is just personal trivia.
Sledgehammer symbolism it may be but anyone living in most of the UK today observed that we transitioned rather suddenly from winter into full-on spring. And it’s forecast to stay. On such a day, let us use the Railway as a bridge.
A nice day also to mark the 2,000th picture on this blog taken in the UK. If Cambridge Analytica find it significant that I have spent 82.37% of my time over that period in my home country — there you go, I’ve saved them the bother of doing the maths.
Tromsø is not on the mainland but on the island of Tromsøya: this is its eastern shore. Proof that the Arctic is not all glamorous and dramatic landscapes. This is kind of how I imagine places like Murmansk to look. And I swear I haven’t fiddled with the colours on this one — life really was this monochrome at 4.50pm today, under the pissing rain.
It’s getting towards winter, and looked it, this morning – though it’s still warmer than at home, about 20 degrees C today. This will be the last photo of Brisbane itself on this blog, at least on this trip; I might be back next year, and I might still be blogging then, but on Wednesday I’m bidding it goodbye. It’s a decent city, it’s been good to me, so here’s to it.
