Tuesday 24th March 2026, 7.00pm (day 5,325)

I got out of the house, at least. One doesn’t often see trains like this, but let’s enjoy it while it lasts, and take a relaxed attitude, as this person seems to be doing.

On 23rd March 2026, nothing happened. At least not to me anyway. Down there in town a blue truck parks itself in that gap we perceive in the buildings and offers something to look at. And so I get through another day.

I have mulled over this for a little while and come to the consclusion that this is definitely the most pleasing photo taken today, so apologies to these two entities for invading their pivacy somewhat. But if they are going to get down to it in public, specifically by platform 2 of Hebden Bridge railway station at 11.30 this morning, then that’s their decision. Warm weather has brought out the ladybirds in firce over the last couple of weeks and from the looks of it we are going to see more of them.

I know my sister Vicki follows this blog, so let me say that it was, as always, nice to see them in Hebden Bridge tonight. This is a picture of her and Pete (the tattoos are the giveaway) and not one of a Thai corn ball, even though that does form the foreground.

Seen on my walk back to Cardiff station for my train home. This was one of those where, had I not already had my camera out and ready, I would never have got it. For once, a litter bin is not a detriment, but an active constituent of the shot. It’s a shame the crossing isn’t showing a green walking man though, but we can’t have everything.

Random railway station, number…. quite a few. The train is the one I was catching, so from this shot you can see where I was; where I was going; and how long I had to wait. In a world where all movements are tracked I might as well be honest about it.

This handsome creature trotted over as soon as it saw me and virtually demanded that I do its close ups. Who am I to refuse such an offer?

This bizarre hellscape was captured on a train. I noticed there was a line of pylons stretching away into the distance, we were slowing down and I had a shot at it, and here you are. The farm buildings and paraphernalia didn’t even get noticed until after the shot had been ‘developed’. As far as I can tell it is the farm labelled on the OS map as ‘New Dairy Farm’ at grid reference ST306840, just outside Newport in south Wales.

We have become fairly regular attendees at the Picture House’s monthly Film Quiz, an activity which is as good a way of spending early evening on a Sunday that I can think of, and seemed appropriate for Oscar Night, so this evening was themed around the Academy Awards. The creator of this monthly geek-fest is Michael, seen here from our usual seat in row C, with what are, these days, the indispensable tools of the trade.
