Chrissi’s workshop

Thursday 7th December 2017, 1.25pm (day 2,296)

Chrissi's workshop, 7/12/17

Chrissi came to teach us all about using board games in teaching — not that that is obvious from this shot, but what the hell, I still like it. It was an engaging session and I think this is captured here. And yes, the eagle-eyed may have spotted our Clare engaging in the back there.

The former café

Wednesday 6th December 2017, 10.05am (day 2,295)

Ex-cafe, 6/12/17In the summer the university catering service decided they could no longer be troubled to run a café in my building at work — the seats still get used, but there’s no warmth to the place any more. Another shot with emptiness as its theme, like yesterday’s…. maybe this is some big existential crisis brewing.

Empty canal

Tuesday 5th December 2017, 9.35am (day 2,294)

Empty canal, 5/12/17

It’s dim, dull, depressing. I dislike this time of year. Even the Rochdale Canal has given up the ghost in Manchester City Centre. You’d think, as this runs along Canal Street, they’d make an effort. Doubt the bar whose barge-cum-smoking-area lies among the debris is benefiting from this business-wise.

Ducks (sort of)

Monday 4th December 2017, 10.30am (day 2,293)

Bathroom ducks, 4/12/17

The last two Mondays I have been on the 06:59 train into Manchester but fortunately this week could start in a much more gentle way, with a whole day working at home. But days like these don’t give out much in the way of photo opportunities. Hence the ducks. Of course, the one on the left is actually a seagull.

Gareth outside the pub

Sunday 3rd December 2017, 5.00pm (day 2,292)

Gareth smoking, 3/12/17

Not an eventful day today (and don’t expect one tomorrow, either). It was either this pic of Gareth having a fag or some okra. The okra were cute, but let’s go with Gareth.

The Charlatans

Saturday 2nd December 2017, 10.10pm (day 2,291)

Charlatans, 2/12/17

Back into Manchester, for this gig at the Apollo…. the wife’s favourite band. It’s impossible to take truly decent photos at a rock concert, at least not without permission to get on the stage and some far better equipment than I can muster (or would be allowed to bring into the venue). Not to mention people standing up in front of you. But I try.

Sam Alex Building at sunset

Friday 1st December 2017, 4.05pm (day 2,290)

Sam Alex, sunset, 1/12/17

The Sam(uel) Alex(ander) Building is the one next to mine at work. Sun setting when leaving work already — but there’s still three weeks for the nights to get longer yet.

Joe plots his next move

Thursday 30th November 2017, 7.55pm (day 2,289)

Joe playing Harbor, 30/11/17

Evening entertainment at the end of a very cold day. Joe contemplates whether he should exchange three cucumbers for a pallet of fish in the costermongers’, or possibly whether he should felch his mortgage and cast down his pie to prevent his opponents accumulating so many nickels that he will no longer be able to buy any rabbits. At least, I think those were the rules. My haziness on these matters is probably why I finished third (out of three).

Raise, from White Side

Wednesday 29th November 2017, 1.15pm (day 2,288)

Raise from White Side, 29/11/17

I had a book to read for work. I read it today. Did I need to be in an office to do this? No, I didn’t.

There are actually two other people (who had the same idea as me) visible on this photo. While away a pleasant couple of minutes seeing if you can locate them.

In University Place

Tuesday 28th November 2017, 9.30am (day 2,287)

University Place, 28/11/17

She’s about to stand up, so this was my one chance to get this picture — hence, it’s fiercely cropped and could be a lot sharper. But…. I still kinda like it. You can’t really go wrong with rimlight like that.
