Joe shakes hands with himself

Saturday 15th February 2014, 2.20pm (day 905)

Joe in mirror, 15/2/14

As seen in the National Media Museum, Bradford, today, A concave mirror and some easy-enough positioning for the cameraman. I like the playing-card effect on this one. Technically it is also a self-portrait.

Waiting room at the clinic

Friday 14th February 2014, 9.55am (day 904)

Waiting room, 14/2/14

Had to do my 10 minutes in this place today, to get processed through the system in a certain way. But it needs doing, and it’s something to photograph. I remain around home, Hebden Bridge, for a considerably stable period, relative to my usual movements.

Unexpected visitor

Thursday 13th February 2014, 10.00am (day 903)

Ladybird, 13/2/14

How on earth we get a ladybird in our house in February, I have no idea. Despite the mildness of the winter (and it has been very mild, with barely a frost yet), the only logical explanation is it’s been inside with us all winter. It was a bit sluggish, but alive.

Outside Selfridges, Manchester

Wednesday 12th February 2014, 4.15pm (day 902)

Outside Selfridges, 12/2/14

I will only add that tonight is a foul night, a real stinker. I hope this guy, and the thousands like him, end up somewhere warm, safe and dry.

The Hebden Water

Tuesday 11th February 2014, 4.05pm (day 901)

Hebden Water, 11/2/14

The Earth orbits the Sun with a tilt to its axis and every day of each year the light falls on us all in different ways. Today at 4pm was one of those points where it shines straight down the channel of the Hebden Water as it runs below the retaining wall of Keighley Road. Nice to be in the right place at the right time to see it.

Learning Commons building

Monday 10th February 2013, 3.55pm (day 900)

Learning Commons, 10/2/14

To mark day 900 of the blog let’s return to this common theme — Well-Lit Moments on the Manchester University Campus. And as it is a round number day, I’ve got round to updating the Best of the Rest and Stats pages, if you are interested (though I admit I do these mainly for myself…).

Casper awaits his baptism

Sunday 9th February 2014, 11.05am (day 899)

Casper, 9/2/14

A bit blurred, I know, but I like it anyway, and seeing as Casper’s christening was the main event of the day, I should pick a shot directly related to it. He is the son of my cousin David, pictured here holding him, and his wife Emily (to right). Well done to them all, and a nice day was had.

I can never remember though, does this make Casper my second cousin? Or first cousin once removed? I pass.

In the pub, Saturday afternoon

Saturday 8th February 2014, 4.15pm (day 898)

In the pub, 8/2/14

Another familiar scene, but these are my habits. Special guest appearances by Mr Steve Grey (right) and a couple from Bradford, so they said.

Clare at Victoria station

Friday 7th February 2014, 1.50pm (day 897)

Clare, Victoria station, 7/2/14

Gosh, I made it into Manchester. But because this was a potentially traumatic experience, the wife came with me, and we didn’t stay for all that long.

The old bridge, winter morning

Thursday 6th February 2014, 8.45am (day 896)

Old bridge, 6/2/14

Of the near-900 days I’ve been doing this blog these last two weeks have been among the least diverse, in terms of source material. Apart from two days in that time I have had nothing but fully familiar scenes, things I have seen constantly over the last 13 years. This sight, this bridge, has been one constant in my home town for the last 500 years, in fact.
