Norwegian Noon, November

Wednesday 28th November 2012, 12 noon (day 461)

Norway noon, 28/11/12

This is one of those where I didn’t seek much photographic quality out of the daily pic, and instead just documented an interesting event. Well, I mean, it’s an everyday event, but look how low in the sky this sun is. And I’ve applied no filters or digital manipulation to this shot. This is really what high noon looks like in Bergen in late-November.

Wet Monday morning

Monday 26th November 2012, 7.55am (day 459)

Wet Monday morning, 26/11/12

Ho hum. Not many Monday mornings to go, fortunately. Nice to see the Council are keeping the drains clear of fallen leaves, anyway.

At the end of the rainbow

Thursday 22nd November 2012, 8.15am (day 455)

Rainbow, HB, 22/11/12

Can something be both colourful and gloomy at the same time? I think this rainbow manages it. I love the way the houses at the end, lit by the early morning sun, glow like little nuggets of gold at the end of the…. whatever, you know what I’m saying.

Above the Hebden Water

Sunday 18th November 2012, 11.05am (day 451)

Above Hebden Water, 18/11/12

Another sunny, pleasant morning in my home town, and there are some little crannies of it that I haven’t got round to showing you yet. This little bay window belongs to ‘The Old Treehouse’, a kids’ supplies store in the centre of town.

Outside Victoria station

Thursday 15th November 2012, 10.45am (day 448)

Outside Victoria, 15/11/12

I really like this shot, and its grid-like structure – I like it even more if I claim that the smudge on the lens is some kind of artistic statement on my part. This chap with his headphones on looked very chilled out this morning, good for him.

A bright moment

Wednesday 14th November 2012, 8.05am (day 447)

Bright moment, 14/11/12

Sunny but uneventful morning in Hebden Bridge, apart from at number 5 across the valley, where an experiment in localised nuclear fission appears to be taking place, or possibly, the opening of a wormhole into the centre of the galaxy.

Underpass, University of Manchester

Tuesday 13th November, 2012, 3.50pm (day 446)

Underpass, 13/11/12

Don’t even remember why I took this shot in particular, but it does seem to epitomise a grey, dull November day, as things get darker earlier and earlier.

By the Mancunian Way

Monday 5th November 2012, 3.25pm (day 438)

Manchester leaves, 5/11/12

This photo was taken right at the point where a slip road – that’s it behind the fence – curves off the busy A34 road and heads up to the even busier Mancunian Way (the city centre relief road). I’m stood right by a flyover that still bears the commemorative plaque awarded in 1968 by the ‘Concrete Society’ (no kidding) and in the background is one of the locality’s grimmer 1960s housing blocks.

All the same, it’s rather pretty at the moment isn’t it?

Hebden Bridge, Sunday afternoon

Sunday 4th November 2012, 3.40pm (day 437)

Hebden view, 4/11/12

I suppose at one level this repeats the ‘fire’ theme which has characterised the other two photos of the weekend, but not in quite the same way. Here we are, the sun starts to set behind the valley walls at 3.40pm now: it is truly winter. Although by mid-December the sunset will have reached as far east as the mobile phone mast to the left.

Bonfire, 3/11/12

Remember, remember, the 5th of November. Or, the nearest available Saturday.
