Before the gig, Deaf Institute

Wednesday 6th September 2017, 8.05pm (day 2,204)

Deaf Institute, 6/9/17

The “Deaf Institute” might seem a strange name for a place that puts on regular gigs, but that’s what its called, or more precisely, it’s what the building was when it was first built in Victorian times. For the last six years it has been running as a rather decent bar, club, venue arrangement. The gig tonight? Tom McCrae, one of the wife’s favourites. I guess he’s decent enough. I quite like this shot because of the microphone.

Pub mirror

Monday 30th January 2017, 4.05pm (day 1,985)

Calans mirror, 30/1/17

Not an exciting day today, so here’s an abstract. I like the lines, the slash of pink. Flimsy disguise for the fact I was in the pub at 4pm on a school day, however.

Friday morning, Leeds station

Friday 8th April 2016, 8.50am (day 1,688)

Leeds station, 8/4/16

Another trip down South, meaning another morning change of trains at Leeds station — so many shots have been taken here. I like the general pinkness of this shot and the everyday stance of the two human subjects. Mundane it may be, but attractive, I think.

Platform 12 (in the pink)

Friday 16th October 2015, 9.45am (day 1,513)

Platform 12 in pink, 16/10/15

Work trip down south today. Change trains at Leeds. Leeds probably ranks third on the list of ‘Drew’s most frequently-visited railway stations’ (after Hebden Bridge and Manchester Victoria, but ahead of Preston and King’s Cross). This section of it seems to have turned a shocking pink colour in the last few weeks for no immediately obvious reason.

Before the ‘Race for Life’, Halifax

Sunday 21st July 2013, 9.25am (day 696)

Race for Life, 21/7/13

Clare was one of approximately 1,600 women running this race today, the majority in the regulation pink, raising money to fight all kinds of cancer. I don’t normally do advertising on the blog but this time I feel obliged to mention that you can sponsor her (and by implication, the 1,599 other women running today, including the ones I have pictured) at http://www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/the-railway. Every little helps…
