The Brighton end

Tuesday 18th August 2015, 7.55pm (day 1,454)

Brighton end, 18/8/15

The town of Huddersfield has now appeared three times on the blog, each time for the football, though this is the first time the actual stadium has made it. Third game of the 2015-16 Championship season, and rather amazingly, we (Brighton & Hove Albion FC) had won the first two and then scored after only 17 seconds of this game, hence the happy faces on the fans here. (The guy who has busted me taking the photo does make it, I think.) Final result: 1-1 draw, so the happiness faded, a little.

Grasmere

Monday 17th August 2015, 2.50pm (day 1,453)

Grasmere, 17/8/15

On some days you’ve just got to go with a particular shot simply because it’s exactly the picture you wanted to take when the shutter was pressed. This was one of those days.

And the answer? Is no, not at the moment. It’ll pass.

Joe in the alley

Saturday 15th August 2015, 1.15pm (day 1,451)

Joe beside cinema, 15/8/15

We’re still not moving a great distance from home. Taken down the side of the cinema in Hebden Bridge. Why do I like it? The arrow, the lines, the capturing of Joe’s shuffling gait.

Friday 14th August 2015, 4.00pm (day 1,450)

Pub delivery, 14/8/15

A lot of restaurant- and pub-related posts lately. Well, that’s life — this week there’s been little more than home, work and pub. Bear with it…

Ilias

Thursday 13th August 2015, 2.20pm (day 1,449)

Ilias, 13/8/15

Ilias is the son of Marilena (behind), who works for me despite living in Corfu — but that’s the online world for you. This was his first visit to England, we met them for lunch in Manchester, and he got to show that he has adopted certain local customs even at his young age. Yia mas!

(Obligatory child protection note: he didn’t drink it, you know.)

Bee buddleia bonanza

Wednesday 12th August 2015, 11.55am (day 1,448)

Bee and buddleia, 12/8/15

I have this image of the bee just diving in and troughing, like it’s the bee equivalent of some Roman orgy or similar. “Hah! Gimme nectar!”

Clouds over the library

Tuesday 11th August 2015, 11.50am (day 1,447)

Clouds over library, 11/8/15

First day in Manchester for a while. Ominous clouds, but they passed over without molesting us. I like this shot — trips to deepest Africa notwithstanding, one of my favourite ones for a while.

Under the umbrella, 10/8/15

I returned to work. It rained. Well, these things will happen, they still need documenting…

Keith prepares the stocks

Sunday 9th August 2015, 3.45pm (day 1,445)

Keith and stocks, 9/8/15

To help with the fundraising aspect of the Kilimanjaro walk (I’ve been raising money for the Calder Valley Search and Rescue team, if you’d like to help), my local, the Railway, had an afternoon of fun and frolics. It was Keith’s idea to set up the stocks (a pound for three throws) — he went in first, therefore. But I did get wet myself…
