Reggie and Annie are as true a couple as I have ever met. Somewhat out of focus though it is, I like this photo because it demonstrates that fact.

A Saturday night out in Manchester and, to start it, a return to the Food & Drink Festival also depicted (more abstractly) yesterday. On both days there were plenty of pleasant things to consume. Manchester makes its five-in-a-row: only the second time I have managed this, the first being in March 2014.
More monochrome, but it felt right. The position of the half-seen guard may or may not be a sign of despair at the state of the local train service.
The blue skies of the last two days were definitively absent today. The view from the back of the house was the limit of my horizons. Had I not set the monochrome filter you wouldn’t really see a great deal more colour beyond a kind of dull green on the hillside. Happy Mondays.
I have to write. I basically barricaded myself in the house to do so, even if only symbolically. These are the tough assignments: days in the house, working, grey and dull weather, and not even any family members around to pose for portraits. So here is the barricade, either a messy abstract of a shot or an interesting bunch of textures. What’s going on with the floor exactly, I don’t know, but that’s my house for you.
I’ve always been prepared to state that the Belgians do the world’s finest beer. And it’s very nice to finally come to their country and test this out for real. Has my mind changed? Not in the least.
These two have clearly had a very good weekend. And so have I.
There is something statuesque about this jackdaw, I think. Like he’s posing and ready to launch a discus like an ancient Greek athlete. Perhaps that is why I have gone monochrome for the day.
Our last day in Iceland was supposed to end around, oh, say 9am? And we were due home in Hebden Bridge by 2pm.
As you can see from this, this didn’t happen. In fact, we did not leave the airport until 9.30pm, after a litany of farce that I do not wish to begin to recount. Thus, another two hours after this take-off time was promised to us.
You can’t completely see the flight number to identify the budget carrier who inflicted this joke upon us (with no informational updates); let me just say they wear orange. A shame because otherwise this has been an excellent week in Iceland, if you get to visit it I highly recommend it.
Working at home this morning, this thing starts crawling up the wall with its extraordinarily long legs. Imagine translating those legs to human size, they’d be thirty feet tall, you’d be one of the tripods from War of the Worlds. But seeing as it only has six of them — a spider this is not….
