Clare hard at work

Tuesday 1st August 2017, 5.20pm (day 2,168)

Lego hot dog, 1/8/17

The title is irony — as this was an indolent day all round, back at home after our week in the Lakes. Don’t expect much to happen this week…

Lego workshop

Tuesday 16th May 2017, 1.00pm (day 2,091)

Lego workshop, 16/5/17

It was time today for the monthly staff development workshop that I organise. Why the Lego? Well, ask the speaker… but the talk was about creative innovation, so always good to have some toys to spark interest. I always try to do something creative each day — the proof has played out over the last five-and-three-quarter years on here.

The agora, Athens (in Lego)

Sunday 5th March 2017, 1.25pm (day 2,019)

Lego agora, 5/4/17

The wife’s Lego fetish took us up to Newcastle for a day out, with the Centre for Life — a science museum, basically — containing a temporary ‘Brick History’ exhibit, with various historical events depicted in plastic. I have always said that should a time machine ever be invented, my choice for a return would be ancient Athens to see how democracy actually got started: I doubt it was quite as orderly as this though. (I’d stop off on the way in Manchester, 1979, to see Joy Division live, too.)

On the Christmas dinner table (Iris the lego lady)

Sunday 25th December 2016, 6.40pm (day 1,949)

Xmas lego lady, 25/12/16

Never easy to know what to choose to epitomise Christmas Day, particularly when it’s been a fairly uneventful one — though nice, just spent with the family, eating, socialising, etc. The decorations on the dinner table will do as well as anything to represent this… with a guest appearance from Iris the lego lady. A happy Christmas to you all, however you have spent it.

Brickadilly Station

Saturday 2nd July 2016, 1.05pm (day 1,773)

Brickadilly, 2/7/16

As made of Lego and pictured at “Bricktastic 2016” in Manchester, to which Joe and I accompanied Clare for our day out today — and this was very definitely her gig (for reasons that might be obvious if you have seen her own daily photo blog). She won the star prize in the raffle, too — a £170-worth Lego kit for a £2 ticket, not bad going. I like this photo of a Lego version of Manchester Piccadilly station thanks to the two guys in the background trying to get their own shot of it. I wonder if I was in the way.

Lego lady gets desperate

Sunday 24th May 2015, 7.20pm (day 1,368)

Lego lady, 24/5/15

I could explain again the basis of Clare’s blog with her Lego lady…. but I’m not going to. Rest assured that I did take this shot, hence it fits with the rules of my own blog. Do I feel like this? That’s for me to know and you to find out.

Clare and her Lego lady

Friday 30th January 2015, 4.50pm (day 1,254)

Clare and Lego lady, 30/1/15

Whether inspired by me or not, Clare now has a photo blog of her own where she intends to post a photo of a Lego figure every day for a year. Our paths were bound to coincide at some point. Took 30 days.

Joe, the God of Lego

Friday 19th October 2012, 5.40pm (day 421)

Joe and Lego, 19/10/12

Man, it’s been a tiring week. Marked its conclusion by taking the family out to the theatre in Manchester tonight, to mark Clare’s birthday (the specific date is next week). They had been in the city earlier, shopping, and here Joe displays some of his purchases. I like this shot because of the focus, the reflection in the table, and his big doe eyes.

By the way I now have 100 followers of this blog. Thanks to you all!

Joe makes a contribution

Friday June 8th 2012, 3.30pm (day 288)

Lego pirate, 8/6/12

After a busy week, today was dull, spent working at home while the rain came down outside. Later on, Joe observed that he never gets to decide my photo of the day. OK, mate: go ahead. Here is his choice. I love the pegleg on this Lego pirate; a neat touch.
