Making pasta

Sunday 14th December 2014, 5.25pm (day 1,207)

Making pasta, 14/12/14

It would be lovely if I had been able to head off to some dramatic windswept coastal spot or gone up a mountain or made some other such photogenic opportunity. But I did tell you it wasn’t going to be an exciting weekend. So, courtesy of the self-timer, here’s me making dinner again. And yes, I can do pasta from scratch, it’s not that difficult.

Peter Hook

Tuesday 9th December 2014, 8.50pm (day 1,202)

Peter Hook, 9/12/14

So, this is Peter Hook. Bass player with Joy Division (who then became New Order), the greatest rock band ever to walk the surface of the Earth. Playing in my home town. I could walk home afterwards. it was….. worth seeing.

My students try out the Raspberry Pi

Monday 1st December 2014, 2.50pm (day 1,194)

Raspberry Pi class, 1/12/14

The Raspberry Pi is a small computer which one can buy for £25 and is targeted at kids who can use it to learn programming. That’s it visible bottom right of centre, with all the wires connecting it up to the keyboard and monitor so you can see what you are doing on it — Mandy and Sarah Jane here were using it to compose a version of ‘Jingle Bells’ as it happens. It’s nice to get a shot of people being this engaged in a class…

Half time, Halifax v Alfreton

Saturday 29th November 2014, 4.00pm (day 1,192)

Halifax v Alfreton, 29/11/14

Have not had the chance to see Brighton lately and nor, to tell the truth, much motivation to, as we’re having a lousy season. Felt like watching a match today and as Halifax were at home took Joe there. Good grief though, that’s a bunch of fans with a stratospheric whinge factor. Maybe some of them started out like fresh faced kids when they were 10 years old or so, like this one. But they’ve changed, boy have they changed. Halifax 2, Alfreton 0 today.

Self-portrait, Flybussen

Friday 28th November 2014, 5.30pm (day 1,191)

Selfie, Flybussen, 28/11/14

The Flybussen links Bergen city centre with the airport and I’ve become quite familiar with it over the years. Home from Norway this evening, the last trip abroad of 2014. Not a bad shot although it might be nicer if the emergency window-smashing hammer weren’t hovering over things like the sword of Damocles.

Gate D3 at Copenhagen airport

Wednesday 26th November 2014, 1.30pm (day 1,189)

CPH gate D3, 26/11/14

God I spend a lot of time at Copenhagen airport. I mean, it’s not a bad airport as these things go, but it’s still an airport, thus essentially soulless. Extra hour’s delay today as well.

Yes, I know I could have sat six inches to the left and got the symmetries on this shot exactly right, but there was a large Scandinavian bloke sat there and anyway I couldn’t be entirely obvious taking this. If I hadn’t pointed it out you wouldn’t have noticed it anyway… right?

On the cattle truck

Monday 24th November 2014, 5.00pm (day 1,187)

Cattle truck, 24/11/14

The point of this blog is not just to find the day’s ‘artistic’ or ‘creative’ side but also to try to epitomise my day. This shot sure does that. Sometimes I’m this close to sodding off back to Fiji.
