At the end of a week that I have mostly spent marking but which tired me out anyway. Where else to go but the pub?
At the end of a week that I have mostly spent marking but which tired me out anyway. Where else to go but the pub?
Went to the cinema tonight to see a superb film, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly — if you’ve never seen it I highly recommend it. It was being shown as a charity fundraiser, which meant we were obliged to listen to the speeches beforehand, hence this picture. But I am being unfair — it was for a good cause. And did I say it was a very good movie?
Last game of the 2014-15 Championship season. Most Brighton fans will follow this with, “thank God”. It’s not been one of our better ones. But we have avoided relegation, anyway, and today marked this with our annual ‘Flying Squad’ gathering at the last game, which this year was in Middlesbrough. A good atmosphere, a reasonable game, but 0-0, sums up our season. The Flying Squad are so named because many of them come in from abroad, including Phil here, who lives in Canada.
A happy Christening day to Ellie (Eleanor Mary) who becomes the youngest person to appear on the blog twice (after this shot last January). Father Loyd last appeared on his wedding day, so you see, they’re doing it all in the order they’re supposed to.
Another work trip to London — I have several of these coming up. No real opportunities for photography during the day, I’m afraid, but while waiting in the pub after work for my friend to turn up I started taking photos of the other customers. I’m not particularly satisfied with this shot but it’ll do, I guess. I like the guy’s look, though. Sort of like a 1970s revolutionary crossed with Carlos Santana.
Well, you can see from the labels what these guys do. And they do it very well. One of my more catatonic days today — but I shopped, and to good effect I think. One third of my way through the second thousand photos.
One assumes that he fitted through the window on the way out, so will also fit through on the way back. Otherwise, he’s in difficulty — there is nothing below him except a ten-foot drop to the Rochdale Canal.
Not the most exciting photo. Not the most exciting day. But the PC Gamer magazine shines bright and interesting, as far as Joe is concerned.
Staffing the ‘welcome desk’ halfway through the last day of the conference is not the most exciting job in the world, I am sure.
Last day in California — it’s been an interesting and enjoyable week. Can I take the weather home, please?
More transportation, this time the bus back to the hotel after the conference dinner. There seems to be something amusing both Alexandra in the foreground and the gentleman behind, who happens to be Marc Prensky; those of you active in the education field may have heard of this guy (digital natives etc.).
