“Come on a walk, they said. Lots of balls and squirrels to chase, they said. Hmmph. This don’t match my idea of fun. There aren’t even any crisps to eat.”

What can I say? It’s Tuesday. I spent the day sat on my arse grading student papers. It’s pub night…
Oh dear, pubs two days in a row. Well, it is Christmas. I need a break. An apposite way of recalling that this place, along with the rest of Hebden Bridge town centre, was under six feet of water two years ago today: this year’s was a rather less eventful Boxing Day, fortunately.
A dull, non-festive shot? My apologies, but yes. Nevertheless to find the Blue Pig open as we went past it towards the end of our Christmas morning exercise walk was a great Christmas bonus. This pub, run entirely by volunteers, is like Brigadoon, sometimes it’s there, more often, it’s not.
I managed to not document anything particularly ‘Christmassy’ about the day but then again seeing as it was mild enough to sit and drink a beer outside by the river, it didn’t particularly feel like it today and I get bored with all these cliches anyway. Either way… hope you enjoyed your version of the day, whatever you did with it.
The last working week of the year comes to an end. Every year, semester 1 is like a marathon. Sometimes I reach the end delirious and hyper. 2017 is not one of those years. Right now I feel utterly fatigued, just grateful to have reached this point without any significant loss of faculties. It would be good to slumber through the next eleven days to tell the truth — but I can’t, there are festive duties to perform of course. But that doesn’t mean I have to think much about them; that’s the good news.
Not an eventful day today (and don’t expect one tomorrow, either). It was either this pic of Gareth having a fag or some okra. The okra were cute, but let’s go with Gareth.
It might only have been a three-day week as far as I was concerned — but I’m still allowed to enjoy getting to the end of it.
The weekend begins, not that it’s a very long one for me seeing as I have to work Sunday. So let’s ensure it begins in the right place — a pub serving very fine beer — and I doubt this one will move very far away from this and similar spots near home. There’s been enough travelling lately.
Not much was ever going to happen today. I put this one up in vague homage to this weekend’s Hebden Bridge ‘Steampunk Festival’, as for some reason lovers of this genre hang around HB this weekend looking vaguely Victorian and take photos of each other and admire lighting like this. Well, that seems to be how it works, though I guess I just do not understand it.
Revenge for a photo-bomb… he then changed his mind about being in the picture. Joe’s 94th appearance on the blog, so it is. A quiet, uneventful weekend, but it was always going to be.
