The NGI is still under construction and is the building to the right of this image. The background is formed by the George Kenyon Hall of residence, which last appeared on the blog fairly recently, on day 1,133 (1/10/14).
I have been giving some thought recently to this blog and what I want it to be. To cut a long story short I’ve decided to try and be more of a photographer than a blogger — and will try, as much as I can, to let the image stand alone, speak for itself (with the addition of a title and some tags, I guess). For a trial period I’m therefore going to stop posting little commentaries alongside the daily image, though I might still provide some basic information on the location.
Monday morning. Shapes, colours, lines. Could do without the tree, however.
I hope this one isn’t too much like Google Street View. Even if it is, it’s still the cleanest and most satisfying shot I managed today, in one of the few bursts of light that came while I was outside.
Sometimes you just see a shot, and have about five seconds and one chance to capture it before it goes away (in this case because the guy simply stepped back inside through the window to his left). They don’t always come out as hoped, but this one did. Played for and got.
Into Manchester for the first time in a few weeks. Victoria station’s redevelopment proceeds onwards: this is taken from platform 1, looking back towards the old building (listed, so they have to preserve it in the rebuild) and the new roof. It’s good to see.
Last day in Manchester until well into August. People seem to have disappeared from these photos in the last few days. Indeed, in the last 6 I’ve depicted nothing more sentient than a raspberry.
