Greystone Bar, South Bank

Wednesday 17th April 2013, 8.25pm (day 601)

Greystone bar, 17/4/13

After five shots in a row of the QUT campus, or its immediate vicinity, time for a change of scene, and mood. This was taken across the river, opposite the South Bank cinema, where I went to see a movie tonight. (Which, if you’re interested, was Oblivion: it’s OK, good imagery, but there’s a huge plot hole in it — which I will leave you to discover for yourselves.)

Rainy evening, QUT

Saturday 13th April 2013, 5.50pm (day 597)

Rainy evening, QUT, 13/4/13

At home it should be getting warmer and lighter right now (and may well be – I can’t say I really care), but here, in accordance with the earth’s axial tilt, the evenings are darkening and there is a cooler feel to the air. Not that it has ever been exactly dry and summery since I arrived here, not in Brisbane anyway. Of more salience is the question of just what I was doing at work on campus until 5.50pm on a Saturday….

Above Oxenhope, 2/8/12

The landscape shots on this blog tend to have been of the Lake District, but I must remember more often that I live in a pretty decent part of the world, too.

Evening light, Manchester Airport

Monday 26th September 2011, 6.00pm (day 32)

Evening light, Manchester airport, 26/9/11res

To mark the start of its second month, this blog is going international for 3 days – to Finland, as it happens. I wanted to get a shot inside the airport to try to encapsulate the day but they are such intrinsically boring and bland places, and you keep thinking that if you snap away, some security guard is going to come and confiscate your phone. Fortunately while we were on the taxiway waiting for take-off, the evening light shone just so, and something came of the wait.
