Clare, Joe and insects

Saturday 18th July 2015, 8.10pm (day 1,423)

Clare and Joe, 18/7/15

Walking home after a barbecue at a friend’s house. I like this photo partly because of the way the sunset light has caught the clouds of insects accompanying us on our journey, but also because when Clare saw this on the camera she went “bloody hell, he’s as tall as I am”. Which is true, now she comes to mention it.

Dentist’s waiting room (with Joe)

Wednesday 15th April 2015, 4.00pm (day 1,329)

Joe in waiting room, 15/4/15

Not the most exciting photo. Not the most exciting day. But the PC Gamer magazine shines bright and interesting, as far as Joe is concerned.

Escaping from Atlantis

Saturday 14th March 2015, 7.55pm (day 1,297)

Atlantis, 14/3/15

It’s a board game, quite a good one in fact. Not an exciting weekend thus far but it doesn’t matter. I won, so hey, I rule.

Clare and her Lego lady

Friday 30th January 2015, 4.50pm (day 1,254)

Clare and Lego lady, 30/1/15

Whether inspired by me or not, Clare now has a photo blog of her own where she intends to post a photo of a Lego figure every day for a year. Our paths were bound to coincide at some point. Took 30 days.

In the snow

Wednesday 21st January 2015, 12.25pm (day 1,245)

Clare in snow, 21/1/15

It snowed again. A lot. Enough to make it kind of enjoyable, and that’s why I like this picture — the look of pleasure on Clare’s face. OK, let’s self-criticse about the tree growing out of her shoulder, but hey.

Celebratory champagne

Monday 12th January 2015, 7.10pm (day 1,236)

Champagne, 12/1/15

Clare had an exam today and on return home celebrated with a bottle of champagne we got for Christmas. Not that she knows whether or not she’s passed or not, but who needs such a specific excuse. This shot is taken from underneath, looking out our front door, through which the cork has just flown. I tried to get the truly decisive action shot, but that one didn’t work, this one is OK though.

Potato clock

Monday 5th January 2015, 6.30pm (day 1,229)

Potato clock, 5/1/15

It’s a small digital clock powered by two zinc and two copper rods stuck into two potatoes. Hence, a potato clock. Well, the run of landscape shots had to come to an end at some point, but I guess we can still call this ‘nature’?

Making pasta

Sunday 14th December 2014, 5.25pm (day 1,207)

Making pasta, 14/12/14

It would be lovely if I had been able to head off to some dramatic windswept coastal spot or gone up a mountain or made some other such photogenic opportunity. But I did tell you it wasn’t going to be an exciting weekend. So, courtesy of the self-timer, here’s me making dinner again. And yes, I can do pasta from scratch, it’s not that difficult.

Self-portrait, Flybussen

Friday 28th November 2014, 5.30pm (day 1,191)

Selfie, Flybussen, 28/11/14

The Flybussen links Bergen city centre with the airport and I’ve become quite familiar with it over the years. Home from Norway this evening, the last trip abroad of 2014. Not a bad shot although it might be nicer if the emergency window-smashing hammer weren’t hovering over things like the sword of Damocles.
