No commentary to make, really — just a well-lit scene that I liked, as we all went our respective ways on this Saturday afternoon. I will note that today was the penultimate day of my 40s however…

If you’ve been anywhere near the Mediterranean you know that it’s an ecosystem in which cats are one of the dominant lifeforms. These three are in charge of the taverna lying near the house of the friends I have come here to visit. Last day in Corfu. May it be less time than eight more years until I return.
Unconnected to any other aspect of my life, I briefly encountered this gorgeous creature today. We flirted. I raised the camera. He grinned… look, you can see him grinning… the shot was taken, we parted ways. Skedaddle is his name, it seems — for how he moves when placed on a smooth wooden floor, and faced with the cats who also live in his house.
Hebden Bridge, and my life, have their local personalities, some of whom have appeared multiple times on the blog. Mathilda, who is generally in charge of the territory around the junction of Valley Road and Victoria Road, is definitely one of them, and this is her fourth appearance on the blog in total. And a very attractive creature she is too.
This dog’s actual name is Finn, but with eyes like that the nickname David Bow-wow just seems right to me. He’s one of the more affectionate creatures you will meet.
Mathilda demands to be only the third animal to definitively make the blog three times (though Humph the heron has a case to have beaten her to it, if the various pictures do indeed depict the same bird). She looks annoyed at the neglect, and that at some point since her last appearance, her collar has gone. And she’s got a bit greyer, but then again haven’t we all.
In 2017, particularly since early June, I have been quite mobile, with lots of photos taken elsewhere. Where there have been bouts of time spent mainly at home they haven’t lasted long. But for the rest of the year, at least, this will change; if I do go elsewhere it’ll be for a walk or a football match, and that’ll be all. We are on Hebden time for a while. I hope I seem happier about this than this dog did today.

Back in January 2015 Ellie (left, at that time aged 8 months) and Maggie (right) appeared on the blog in consecutive days; here they are together. Hard to credit that in the intervening 18 months Ellie has grown from a baby into a little girl with an entire functioning vocabulary. Time passes, we all change…

I’m trying to feel like this. It’s possible, if I just focus on my immediate locality.
I know a few dog/owner couples — connoting not just the usual doggy relations but where the two actively look alike. For an example of what I mean, well, see here….
