Mr. Hamilton, at home

Thursday 10th September 2020, 8.35am (day 3,304)

Eric at home, 10/9/20

I don’t (always) live the high life in the hotels of London, you know… In fact this time I stayed via the good graces of my friend Eric, and here he is seeing me off as I head home once more. Him, and his roses. I was home by lunchtime.

This is the 98th London shot to feature on the blog, so next time I visit it should hit the century mark.

Smoke break outside Aya Sophia

Sunday 19th July 2020, 5.05pm (day 3,251)

Smoke break, Aya Sophia, 19/7/20

Gosh, a human face.  I think there’s only been one of those on the blog in the last month — flesh and blood anyway (as opposed to on book covers, or screens).  It would be a nicer picture if the awning of Calans’ pub wasn’t intruding to bottom left, but the very fact that I could be in that pub on this decently sunny Sunday was celebration enough.

Working on my balcony

Sunday 24th November 2019, 4.45pm (day 3,013)

Working on balcony, 24/11/19

Today, Monday and Tuesday are going to be the work days on this trip — today, to get ready for the other two. I needed a rest after the journey, anyway. Little to see, therefore: it was either the inside of a restaurant, or the pleasant balcony outside my room where I spent the afternoon hacking away on the laptop. There is, of course, more to see of Indonesia than this, but you’ll have to bear with me.

Why the monochrome? As is often the case — to hide coloured blotches caused by lens flare. It works, too. In the original. most of the top right quadrant is stained red.

Russell Square, Brighton

Friday 24th February 2017, 5.05pm (day 2,010)

Russell Square, Brighton, 24/2/17

Here we are in Brighton — big football match to go to tomorrow and, oh yeah, Clare’s annual jog up and down the sea front in the Brighton half marathon. Nice to get down to the south coast before the sun went down today. Here’s to a good weekend…. the anticipation of which is somehow epitomised in this photo for me.

Debs, on the balcony

Monday 11th February 2013, 7.00pm (day 536)

Debs on balcony, 11/2/13

This is Debs who is a regular of the Railway (you’ve seen it often enough) – she has been here for a while visiting family and we both happened to be in Brisbane tonight, so shared a couple of Guinnesses (there they are) at the Irish pub with its cool balcony on the corner of George and Elizabeth Streets. Sláinte!
