Cinema steps

Sunday 15th June 2014, 1.50pm (day 1,025)

Cinema steps, 15/6/14

Was taken here this afternoon to see Who Framed Roger Rabbit? as a Fathers’ Day treat — and a tribute to Bob Hoskins (RIP). Maybe this isn’t the most inspiring photo (with all due respect to the person in it); but it brings to an end a full month of pictures that, with the exception of one Lake District shot, have all been taken in Hebden Bridge or Manchester, or points inbetween. But I’m off travelling again tomorrow.

Joe in the garden

Saturday 14th June 2014, 2.30pm (day 1,024)

Joe in garden, 14/6/14

Joe has featured on this blog more than any other person. Among other things it therefore also becomes a chronicle of his development, at least in the last two and three quarter years, since his first appearance in September 2011. More and more you can see how his teenage face is going to turn out.

Huddle

Friday 13th June 2014, 12.35pm (day 1,023)

University Place, 13/6/14

The main thing that annoys me about this shot are the fire exit warning signs. The non-parallel nature of the lines at the top is explained by the fact this building is cylindrical in shape. So ends a week spent mainly on campus in Manchester.

Goddammit…

Messi, 12/6/14

“…. you mean it starts today?!

OK, this probably isn’t the real Lionel Messi. Welcome to the blog’s first World Cup month.

On Todmorden station

Wednesday 11th June 2014, 4.15pm (day 1,021)

Tod station, 11/6/14

A sunny moment captured through the window of a train on the opposite platform. What I want to know is whether the cat is also intending to catch the imminent Manchester service.

The dry dock in use

Monday 9th June 2014, 4.50pm (day 1,019)

Dry dock, 9/6/14

This doesn’t happen that often, but when it does it’s kind of impressive. The dry dock at Hebden Bridge marina is fully functional, and as you can see, well placed for a half-decent pub.

Hebden Bridge Handmade Parade, 2014

Sunday 8th June 2014, 12.45pm (day 1,018)

Handmade Parade, 8/6/14

Welcome back to the Handmade Parade, pictured also in 2012 and 2013 — an amazing outpouring of creativity and effort. I just photograph it, taking 319 pictures today in one hour and five minutes. To pick one is not easy (others will go on my Flickr site — link at bottom); with the colours and costumes being almost a given I try to focus on the good faces, and then it’s a matter of hoping the focus is just right. I’m particularly happy with this shot because this was played for and got.

Clare, writing

Saturday 7th June 2014, 5.20pm (day 1,017)

Clare writing, 7/6/14

Pictured in the Railway. I need to find variety; day 1,000 came towards the beginning of a full month of time, 31 days (16th May – 15th June) where I will only have one photo outside Hebden Bridge and Manchester, on 29th May. Motivation to keep this blog going comes from the different places I visit, but I also like finding the different shots from familiar territory as well.

Geese on the weir

Friday 6th June 2014, 4.35pm (day 1,016)

Geese on the weir, 6/6/14

More greenery! More waterfowl! It may or may not rain heavily tomorrow, but after my complaints yesterday, today was a beautiful day.
