Broken lock

Saturday 11th April 2015, 3.20pm (day 1,325)

Broken lock, 11/4/15

The last few days’ photos have come out late because my Mac broke on Friday, although it is better now (thanks to the tender attentions of its progenitors, the Apple Store). But that was only the first major breakage of the day — this beauty (our front door) kept us in most of the afternoon until the locksmith came round. That key shouldn’t be stuck at that angle, believe me.

Motherhood…

Friday 10th April 2015, 11.20am (day 1,324)

Motherhood, 10/4/15

There’s a lot of it about… particularly among the ewe population of northern England.

Lakeland panorama (in metal)

Thursday 9th April 2015, 3.10pm (day 1,323)

Steel Lakeland, 9/4/15

Though the choice of photo didn’t reflect this, I was walking in the Lake District yesterday, and I’m going to walk there again tomorrow — so to mark the day inbetween, here’s another version of the Lakeland panorama, cast in metal and placed on Morecambe promenade as a view indicator. Attractive enough in its own right, too, on another beautiful day.

Below the bridge

Tuesday 7th April 2015, 3.45pm (day 1,321)

Geese, 7/4/15

Spring has definitely sprung. These geese — pictured from about 15 feet up — were enjoying it as much as everyone else today. Particularly those of us who are having a week off work (though I’d like to get over the jet lag please).

Waiting for the duck race

Monday 6th April 2015, 3.20pm (day 1,320)

By Hebden Water, 6/4/15

Easter Monday, so we had the annual Duck Race down the Hebden Water. If you don’t know what that is, there is no point explaining it. This shot doesn’t do justice to the crowds watching it — but who cares, it epitomised my day, and that is the point of this blog.

Sunrise wing

Sunday 5th April 2015, 6.15am (British summer time) (day 1,319)

Sunrise wing, 5/4/15

Taken somewhere over Wales on our final descent into Manchester this morning, allowing for the time difference a 19-hour journey door to door. The humps in the foreground are the wing and engine; behind are various hills poking above a layer of mist and fog.

Farewell to San Francisco

Saturday 4th April 2015, 8.20am (day 1,318)

San Francisco, 4/4/15

Off I go on my way home. I hope to be back one day — but that is true of many places. I guess there are several where I have visited for the last time in my life… and there is no way of telling which. Anyway, enough of that — check out the Bay Bridge in the foreground, Golden Gate behind, and Alcatraz to centre right. A very impressive city, and an enjoyable and interesting week.

Conference welcome desk, Friday afternoon

Friday 3rd April 2015, 2.20pm (day 1,317)

Welcome desk, 3/4/15

Staffing the ‘welcome desk’ halfway through the last day of the conference is not the most exciting job in the world, I am sure.

Last day in California — it’s been an interesting and enjoyable week. Can I take the weather home, please?

After-dinner bus

Thursday 2nd April 2015, 9.10pm (day 1,316)

Bus back, 2/4/15

More transportation, this time the bus back to the hotel after the conference dinner. There seems to be something amusing both Alexandra in the foreground and the gentleman behind, who happens to be Marc Prensky; those of you active in the education field may have heard of this guy (digital natives etc.).
