The Wirral — the peninsula on the other side of the Mersey from Liverpool — might not be the most glamorous place in the world but this is a spectacular debut on the blog. I am very pleased with this photo, it came out exactly as was intended when I took it, and that’s always a pleasing thing.
I am trying not to repeat myself on this blog even after nearly 1,200 days, but it’s still something of a surprise that this view hasn’t previously made it. It’s a standard Hebden Bridge shot and I pass it whenever I go to and from the railway station. At least, I don’t think it’s made it before — though I’m getting on a bit these days and may have forgotten.

St. Andrew’s Day, and a beautiful morning. This is the walkway down by the Hebden Water in town. I like the lines of the building, the trees in the background and the random arrangement of café paraphernalia waiting to see if any customers realised it was quite warm enough to sit outside despite it being the last day of November.
Another couple of days in Bergen for me. This shot is taken from more-or-less the same place as this one of the Møllendalsveien building, which is to the right of this viewpoint. 8.45 on a late November morning in Bergen and the sun was only just coming up…
Yes, this really is as exciting as it got today. Looking for the good in all, I quite like the orange jackets against the brown November background, but I spent most of the day at home working and there wasn’t much to see.
Another well-lit afternoon, with the last rays of the day catching the smoke from these November fires. 3pm is as late as we get sunlight in the valley at this time of year — 10 minutes after this all is in shadow.
This is the building site that children should not play on (as pictured behind the playground equipment a couple of weeks ago). A burst of sunlight caught it very well this afternoon.
Didn’t even take a photo today until after the sun went down, which at this time of year is pretty early, and it’s going to get earlier yet. The evening was a very damp one, and hopefully this shot of the canal towpath reflects that (pun not intended).
Another glorious morning. The week has been a lot less stressful than I predicted it would be back on Monday.
