Doubtless there is a parent just out of shot waiting to make the strategic grab if necessary, but at some point in the future these two will be going through their big scary doors all by themselves. A relaxing day, spent enjoying pleasant weather, which has by no means always been the case in this relatively dull summer. No complaints today though. Taken at the Blue Pig beer festival.
I do the blog with a fairly crappy compact camera that needs replacing, only I can’t afford to at the moment. Rock gigs are like football matches, I’d probably be able to capture much better images of them if I had a proper lens or flash unit; in the low ambient light the participants tend to need to be stationary, which doesn’t happen that much. Best effort from tonight, where me, Clare and about 50 other people turned up to watch The Dictators go through their set: a band that can be dated by the fact they appear on a compilation I picked up last year of, not 70s punk, but 70s pre-punk… There were a few of people in the room aged under 40. But only a couple.
It’s on its way…. Although it looks like the guy on the right may have busted me, I doubt it — this was taken with a very long zoom from the far end of the platform.
Back home, and from one of the world’s major historical waterways (the Tagus) to another (the Hebden Water) that is maybe not as significant, but still as photogenic in its own way. We could have done with better weather though — as has been true for two months — which may explain the expressions here.
Sunday afternoon at the pub, one of the first pleasantly sunny and agreeable days in weeks. I mean, the world is still a bag of shit, but there’s music, tobacco, beer, sunshine.
Here’s how to play the hat throwing game. Take two four year olds, one hat, and a stairway. Have the four year old at the top throw the hat down to the other. Change places, and repeat for quite a long time.
The idea for this photo came bit by bit, as I sat on the train down to London looking at the first picture in the sequence, which is of Hebden Bridge station. Decided to take a photo of that on the screen for some reason and then just ran with it. I suppose I could have gone further and further, but I did have other work to do….
One of my more indolent weekends. In twenty years’ time I’ll probably be this guy.
Hebden Bridge’s annual festival of creativity, the Handmade Parade, has featured on this blog every June since I started, and probably will continue to do so. It’s impossible to capture the whole experience in one shot, but I feel the need to show some happiness in the world this weekend, so here’s my choice.
