Silhouette

Sunday 23rd February 2025, 3.30pm (day 4,931)

Silhouette, 23/2/25

While we have been teaching in one half of the hotel’s ‘business centre’, the other has been occupied by a large number of extremely attractive models of both sexes, getting ready for the fashion show that occupied the ballroom this afternoon — a specifically Russian event, it seems. I think if I possessed this woman’s shape, not to mention her ability to support her posture on what looks like two narrow pencils, I’d probably become a model too. The guy on the right isn’t badly sculpted either.

Cloudscape/roofscape

Monday 17th February 2025, 4.50pm (day 4,925)

February sunset, 17/2/25

We’re still not seeing a great deal of sunshine, and so this one was chosen mainly to demonstrate how the evenings are getting lighter, even down here in the valley. A place I am about to leave for a week: when I get back we should have sun at the front of the house again. Should it deign to shine.

Party for Steve’s 70th

Friday 11th November 2022, 8.05pm (day 4,096)

Steve's 70th, 11/11/22

Should I be worried that I now have friends — not just ‘friends of my Dad’ — who are reaching septuagenarian status? Well, here we are. I have known Steve at least 20 years so when our friendship began he was younger than I am now, maybe that’s a scary thought too. Certainly he has appeared on this blog more than anyone else except my immediate family (me, Clare, Joe) and sneaks into the bottom right here for his 13th appearance. I guess I could have done better to photograph this event but it was a pretty low-key thing and to be honest I was knackered anyway after a long day of work. It was a nice beginning to the weekend though.

2021 weather quilt

Sunday 2nd January 2021, 12.30pm (day 3,783)

2021 weather quilt, 2/1/22

Clare has her little daily projects too. Maybe that’s one reason why we’ve managed to stick it out for 25 years (and counting) as a couple. 2019 had its temperature scarf, one line per day; 2021 was recorded on this quilt, one square per day recording weather conditions. Ask C what the coding is…

ICT in Education conference, Stockport

Friday 14th October 2011, 8.45am (day 50)

ICT in Education conference, 14/10/11res

Because of it’s ridiculously early start time I turned up to this opening presentation late, and have no idea what is happening here. But what the hell, the shot of this guy with the impressive data projection on his face is interesting enough, and from what I saw of the rest of the presentation, you didn’t really need to know what was going on.

The ‘outtakes’ have been published to mark this, the 50th day of the blog. See the ‘best of the rest’ page – a permalink to which can be found in the menu at the top.
