Under the locomotive

Saturday 12th June 2021, 12.05pm (day 3,579)

In the National Railway Museum, York. Joe used to be taken here frequently when he was little, but with around two-thirds of his life having passed since the last time, he now claims no memory of the place, so as we had a couple of hours to kill in York this afternoon, it was worth the revisit. The ‘Scots Guardsman’, Preston station

Saturday 8th February 2020, 6.00pm (day 3,089)

Scots Guardsman loco, 8/2/20

Thursday 14th January 2016, 11.35am (day 1,603)

Sackville Street, 14/1/16

This rail bridge takes the train (in this case a freight) between Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Oxford Road stations. The building in the background is the Faraday building, late of the University but now empty and awaiting demolition. I like the general drabness of this shot — very January, although it was a sunny and crisp day today.

Old locomotive cab, Oxenhope station

Wednesday 16th April 2014, 12.30pm (day 965)

Loco cab, 16/4/14

Just an abstract, really. I like the cobweb hanging from the coal chute in this old cab. I don’t think the loco has been abandoned, it just hasn’t been used for a while.
