Friday 10th November 2017, 3.30pm (day 2,269)
This picture kind of misrepresents the day, it wasn’t this bad. But there was something end-of-the-week, Novembery, about the downpour that greeted us all mid-afternoon.

A little snow this morning, enough to provide the sort of wintry scene I was hoping for yesterday, but not enough to last through the day. Took myself up into the wood before work to see what I could capture, and took this one before the posse of ducks drifted in front of the fallen branches and spoiled the reflections.
I make it there are 20 mallards in this picture, and unless I’m mistaken, every one of them is asleep. Proof of one thing anyway — ducks are sensible creatures, who keep leisurely working hours.
Last day of April, the third full month in a row spent outside the UK, but the last on this current run – by the end of May I will be home. Either way, it’s about time we had some more ducks on this blog. I like ducks, and whatever sub species these individuals are an example of, they arranged themselves rather fetchingly along the Brisbane River bank this afternoon.
Astronomically, today was the first day of summer. Ha ha. It’s throwing it down here. Even the ducks look depressed.
Incidentally, what you see here is the original bridge, dating from around 1510, for which the town of Hebden Bridge is named. It’ll have seen drier 21st Junes in its time.
I like ducks: handsome creatures, in my opinion. Tasty, too 🙂 I wonder exactly what is going on to the left of this shot, it’s clearly something of interest in the duck world.
By the way, this is the third shot in a row taken at almost exactly the same time of day.
