What was in the boxes I do not know, but if they started out full then clearly she’s had a good day’s trading. Perhaps that’s what she’s texting about. But perhaps the stall just sells the boxes. It’s that kind of market.
James Fraser, Bishop of Manchester
Monday 9th February 2015, 9.00am (day 1,264)
James Fraser was Bishop of Manchester in the 1880s and like other prominent local men (always men) of that time is commemorated with this statue in Albert Square. Apparently he was pictured looking away from the Town Hall (behind) because he disliked it so much. Right now he can look at the Chinese lanterns that are dangling from the nearby trees in preparation for Chinese New Year in a couple of weeks. No festival celebrated too early.
Canal side
Saturday 7th February 2015, 11.35am (day 1,262)
After a cold and snowy few days in Norway, back home, to a less snowy but still cold Hebden Bridge. The bicycle hanging by the canal is a legacy of when it was much warmer, back in July, and the Tour de France came zipping by.
On Mount Fløyen

If in doubt for something to do in Bergen (and you’ve finished work for the day), take the funicular and come up here. This is Fløyfellet’s second appearance on the blog, the first being well over three years ago (27th Nov 2011), and the second shot in a row of a snowy Norwegian scene with a vaguely supernatural element.

Today is the last of 66 days in a row for me in the UK, which I guess isn’t very long, but it is the second-longest UK-bound period of this blog. I was in Manchester today but the run ended with a damn fine — but cold — Hebden Bridge morning.

As viewed from our allotment this morning. I alleviated the pain of yesterday’s football by going out and tilling the land, or something like that. A sunny day, but cold, to greet February.

The second season in a row where I’ve made the Blackpool v Brighton picture, and hence this stadium’s second appearance on the blog. My rather negative feelings about Blackpool were not helped by the lousy game and lousy result (a 1-0 defeat after a gutless performance). This shot of the stadium epitomises it all.
