Condiments

Wednesday 10th July 2024, 2.55pm (day 4,703)

Condiments, 10/7/24

Only the tenth Hebden shot in three months, but as I have already noted, there will be more of these coming up. Whether they get more exciting than this one is as yet undetermined but up to me, I guess. This at least represents a pleasant lunch out with the wife. It’s nice to be home, for now.

Rose in beer garden

Thursday 27th June 2024, 5.15pm (day 4,690)

Rose in beer garden, 27/6/24

The whole flower-in-pub theme appeared a few days ago, but let’s return to it: it is, at least, a different pub, different flower, different day. Limited horizons this week but that ends today as 10 days off work now beckons, so let’s see what trouble I can get into.

Herb Robert

Saturday 1st June 2024, 3.10pm (day 4,664)

Herb Robert, 1/6/24

Herb Robert being the common name of Geranium robertianum; which grows in relative profusion in a certain beer garden in Hebden Bridge town centre. Well, there’s no football on Saturdays in June, I need something to look at.

In the beer garden

Wednesday 10th January 2023, 4.55pm (day 4,521)

White Swan garden, 10/1/24

Those of us in exile in the beer garden must have our reasons…. perhaps just misanthropy, in my case. The two women doubtless have their own thoughts on this. But the weather was OK so why not? Is that even a bit of light in the evening sky? I believe so.

Pub study

Wednesday 15th November 2023, 1.50pm (day 4,465)

Pub study, 16/11/23

Multiple meanings in the title of today’s post, for I was, indeed, studying while in the White Swan this afternoon — as was this gentleman. That’s my excuse, anyway.

Autumn…

Tuesday 12th October 2023, 4.00pm (day 4,431)

Autumn leaves, 12/10/23

…and so it begins? Certainly it’s much cooler than it has been. Which is probably a good thing.

Rose and awning

Monday 12th June 2023, 1.50pm (day 4,309)

Rose and awning, 12/6/23

A versatile flower, the rose is used for decoration, food, flavour, giving to people to indicate affection etc. Those thorns are damn prickly though. The one that has taken over one corner of our garden is an irritant rather than a decoration. This isn’t it, however; this one is to be found in Hebden Bridge town centre.

Hugo no-go

Monday 17th April 2023, 10.40pm (day 4,253)

Hugo in White Swan, 17/4/23

It’s approaching chucking out time on Monday night in the White Swan but Hugo doesn’t want to go anywhere. He’s quite comfy, thank you.

Trapped

Monday 25th July 2022, 5.15pm (day 3,987)

Wasp in glass, 25/7/22

Perhaps, like this wasp, we are all trapped, aware of the world beyond the glass but frustratingly unable to reach it. But perhaps, again like this particular insect, there is a way out (undepicted here) at the bottom that we just haven’t found yet, we just need to change direction.

Late lunch

Monday 4th October 2021, 2.50pm (day 3,693)

White Swan, 4/10/21

Do I spend too much time in bars and cafés? Maybe it’s whatever Mediterranean genes I have in me. I was working, honest. This is a photowhack — the only picture I took today.
