Friday 24th February 2012, 8.00pm (day 183)
Back home. Was supposed to be going out in Manchester tonight but the gig was postponed, or cancelled, or I got the date wrong, or something. Anyway, when that happens, that’s what locals are for.

The Juke Box Is Your Friend.
This one’s pretty good. There’s no Joy Division, Spiritualized. Ministry, Santana, LCD Soundsystem, Pink Floyd, Lard, or Can. But there is plenty of Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Stones, the Doors, Bowie, and occasional outbreaks of the Temptations, the Sex Pistols, Primal Scream and other positives. I invest three or four quid a week in it. It’s money well spent.
Took a few reasonable photos today but if you want one to really encapsulate the day then here it is. Beer. In front of a real fire. This is how I want to spend my Friday evenings after work, and today, I did.
A day swamped with bad vibes but by the end I had found out the probable cause. Not a pleasant thing at all but not something which affected me directly. At that point I was glad I was able to join friends down at the pub.
I must have come through this back door at least twice a week on average for the last ten years but it’s nice to see it with a fresh eye now and again.
God, it’s been a busy week. Even something like the Hippodrome seems a month ago. Came back from work late and knackered but instead of doing the sensible thing and going straight home I went and watched my lot on TV for the second time in 48 hours – my lot being Brighton, and as I live in West Yorkshire, I did so in a pub full of Leeds fans. At least they know me. 2-0 down after 25 minutes, we went 3-2 up with five minutes to go: buggers still equalised though didn’t they. Final score 3-3. I need to sleep.
After 6 days of work, I finally reach the weekend. After 6 days of rain, the sun finally comes out. And it’s about time I put a photograph of the wife up here.
