A last burst of September sun illuminates the tables outside the Railway, typical haunt of a Friday evening after work, where the accumulated clientele ponder their forthcoming weekends. Steve makes at least his 7th appearance on this blog and is the most-featured individual outside (in this order) Joe, Clare and myself. To help with the fundraising aspect of the Kilimanjaro walk (I’ve been raising money for the Calder Valley Search and Rescue team, if you’d like to help), my local, the Railway, had an afternoon of fun and frolics. It was Keith’s idea to set up the stocks (a pound for three throws) — he went in first, therefore. But I did get wet myself…
Three days of work to go. For me, that is. This is how I feel.
Going on how dominant his team were today in the FA Cup Final, I guess he has a right to be happy — and this was only half time. The Villa fans and neutrals around him can raise little such enthusiasm.
At the end of a week that I have mostly spent marking but which tired me out anyway. Where else to go but the pub?
He’ll probably shoot me for making this Photo of the Day but then again he did invite me to take it. Mr. Steve Grey enjoys his Sunday afternoon in the pub, as indeed we all did.
Whether inspired by me or not, Clare now has a photo blog of her own where she intends to post a photo of a Lego figure every day for a year. Our paths were bound to coincide at some point. Took 30 days.

Egad, it’s cold and wintry at the moment — at least by British standards — but it won’t go the whole hog and snow, which would at least give something outside to photograph other than this chilly gloom. The ‘fire room’ at the Railway is one of the warmest places I know which is why many of us congregate there after doing whatever it is we’ve done in the day. Like Navvy here, a regular visitor.
