Just an ordinary Thursday on Main Street, Haworth. Is there still an obligation to follow a pet like this around with a pooper-scooper?

Could not decide between two photos which both epitomised this uneventful and almost totally energy-free day. But the other one was some knitting project of C’s (we age, we age….) that would have taken too much explanation. The flaked-out dog — and its tether to an unseen owner — these are clearer illustrations.

Not a day that will live long in the annals of photographic history, at least, not for me. But this cat was cute (despite the reflections) and in fact, this is the first cat to appear on the blog since 3rd March 2020 — which is pretty poor form for this self-declared ‘cat person’. Lots of dogs, lots of birds, even a pig or three, but no cats for a while. Let’s rectify this.

I don’t mind dogs on the whole but I’m never going to make myself responsible for one, and there are plenty of people who seem to think I should find their pets as endearing as they do. But these salukis — this is one of a matched pair — were OK, attractive animals I thought. If I’ve got the breed wrong blame the info I got from the owner.
When I put the tag in, and something else came up under ‘Saluki’, it was — where, when? But now I check I see it was the name of a train in Illinois. After nearly ten years doing this, sometimes things get forgotten.

“I don’t know who you are, but play with me anyway! Look, I have the Thing ready!”
Sunday afternoon — in a pub beer garden once again. Well, it’s still a novelty, and the sun is still shining.

The last time anyone other than myself or Joe was depicted on the blog was 4th January, the afternoon before Bojo the Clown put us all under house arrest again. Since then, portrait opportunities have been very rare. This can almost be considered a crowd by recent standards. Though even the dog now takes its lead from us and remains apart. Who’s going to actually start to rebuild the bridges? It won’t just happen.

The reason I came to Bath was to bag another of my County Top walks (see my other blog), the morbidly-named Hanging Hill. That was duly collected a few miles after taking this shot, from the ascent of Penn Hill, a slope of mud with a decent view of the city. During this climb I passed this dog walker, and his companion who seemed for some time to have decided that he was ditching his owner in favour of this new and more interesting person. You can’t just tell them you prefer cats, can you?
Friday market, Hebden Bridge. Things for sale: boots, bags, boxes…. and this dog perhaps? Or maybe it was just selling off a few of its spare possessions. There was no human in sight.
Mathilda makes it on here for the sixth time, and there are only four people who’ve been on more often (and one of them is me). I just pass through her territory quite often. As she is clearly getting rather old, it’s actually nice to confirm she’s still around. The sad thing is that no one will think to tell me when she finally passes on.
Glorious day in Bucharest, sunny and around 17ºC. Surely the warmest 1st February I have experienced anywhere except Brisbane in 2013, and that doesn’t count. I was not the only one taking this opportunity to relax.
