Haworth station

Saturday 17th February 2024, 12 noon (day 4,559)

Haworth station, 17/2/24

Anywhere in the vicinity of the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway and I seem to have an irresistible urge to whack on the sepia filter. It’s appropriate, at least. A steam train would have been nice to add to the shot but one’s just departed, and anyway, it would have got in the way of the nice curve of the track.

Oxenhope station waiting room

Friday 1st April 2016, 3.15pm (day 1,681)

Waiting room, 1/4/16

The last train of the day (on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway) has gone already — we are waiting here for a bus, not a train, the weather was far too grim to wait outside. Joe’s face on this shot amuses me.

Valve

Saturday 8th August 2015, 12.20pm (day 1,444)

Valve, 8/8/15

Beautiful, sunny day, spent out with the family at the Keighley & Worth Valley railway. I pick this valve as today’s shot because I think it looks like a space station. Go on, tell me you see it.

Old locomotive cab, Oxenhope station

Wednesday 16th April 2014, 12.30pm (day 965)

Loco cab, 16/4/14

Just an abstract, really. I like the cobweb hanging from the coal chute in this old cab. I don’t think the loco has been abandoned, it just hasn’t been used for a while.

Fire buckets, Keighley station

Sunday 17th June 2012, 2.50pm (day 297)

Fire buckets, 17/6/12

We were on Keighley station a couple of weekends ago, but hey, here we are again. We had a free ticket and it was something to do. I choose this picture today partly because of the colour and shapes, but mainly because the sign above makes it look like these are the rudimentary toilet facilities. I mean, I know this heritage railway is preserving how things were a hundred years ago or whatever, but this seems to be taking it a bit far.

Carriage doors, Keighley station

Saturday 26th May 2012, 3.10pm (day 275)

Keighley station, 26/5/12

Another gorgeous, sunny day. The Keighley & Worth Valley railway is visited by members of this family about two or three times a year. I know I spend enough time on trains as it is but it’s reachable on a single bus journey from just outside our house; it keeps Joe entertained; and they serve real ale from the buffet car. That’s ticking several boxes…
