There are still students writing their dissertations and still some needing to battle through their data. I try to help. AI might be quicker but it will always be worse at discerning meaning than people are because it doesn’t understand the context and never will. Trust me.
Either way, the last two photos indicate that it really is time to leave the house.
This picture epitomises the week, not just the day. This is what ‘research leave’ means for me, at least this time round. I could tell you what it all means but it would be out of context and take too long. If too dulled out by it all you could, like me, get annoyed by the little speck of whatever between columns F and G and try to wipe it off — but it will be there forever, at least digitally.
Data analysis done the retro way, on the train. Who needs expensive software packages when you have highlighter pens of differing colours. And months after the fact, too — these are interview transcripts from St Helena. But hey, I got to them in the end.
Just to show that I am still making occasional appearances on campus and, y’know, doing some work. My colleagues Susanne (left) and Pauline make a point about the concept mapping. I like that they are somewhat disembodied, but you can see that their hands are helping with the thinking time.
