Too unusual not to use as today’s picture. I believe this contraption was put to use repairing the canal bank here in Hebden Bridge today.
By the way, am I the only one having ‘issues’ with WordPress – I mean, logging on, even making some blogs appear at all?
Despite being there this morning as well Blackpool fails to trouble the blog at all, and may well now never do so. Here we are back in familiar territory, all enjoying a gorgeous day, including the Muscovy duck who seems to have stuck around for the last 18 months since it last appeared on the blog in far less clement conditions.
Had intended to get a photo from Manchester today, encapsulating the fact that this was my last day there for at least 5 months – but here we are, this one was good so let’s run with it.
Nevertheless, have I mentioned that today was my last day in Manchester for at least 5 months? Thank you…
You’ve seen versions of this scene before. But no harm in showing it again.
This is one of those photos that I could take almost any morning that I walk to the station, as this view just presents itself to anyone walking over the bridge that leads there. In a sense then it’s one of the ‘reserve’ photos that I have been saving for when there’s not much else to document. The weather is poor at the moment, the light flat; but there’s always the reflections to give some interest. And speculation as to what it’s actually like to live on one of these boats, which many people do.
Beautiful morning in Hebden Bridge today. Shame, then, that a few minutes after taking this photo I got on a train that took me to Manchester where I then spent all day sat in an office.
I like travelling; but I also like coming home. It’s a cliché, but one that is true, particularly on a beautiful, Indian summer’s day like today.

Like everyone else, I think Indian summers are great – that last little bit of heat and sun before the inevitability of winter. No wonder we all chill out.
