After last year’s glut, our plums are going to have one of their years off, this is obvious already. But there are dozens of these little babies on the branches of the apple tree. Come back to us in September for the harvest.

Apples and rhubarb, 21/10/18

Having eulogised the plums and blackberries already this year — and for good reason — let us also add the glorious amount, and richness, of 2018’s apples as well — not to mention a second good crop of rhubarb. In this aspect, no one can complain about the year.

Garden produce

Garden produce, 25/8/14

Always nice when the garden starts paying off to some extent. Plums, apples, potatoes, picked up at the allotment on this drizzly late August afternoon.

It’s my birthday tomorrow, which means two things, first that the title of this blog is going to be three years out of date, and therefore, that I have managed to document three full years of my life as of today. Exactly one-fifteenth of it in fact. It’s another point when I might have considered stopping, but there are enough things coming up that will be interesting to document so I’m not bored enough yet. Agricultural produce

Been a good weekend for celebrating nature’s bounty. After the rare wildlife of yesterday, more commonplace flora today. Yet, with a decent blackberry harvest from the garden and verges as well, there was tonight’s pudding, further proof that the best things in life are free.
