With the closure of the Contact Theatre cafe, adjacent to my office, for all of 2018, Café Muse (at the Manchester Museum) has become the nicest place nearby to buy a lunch. I like this back room, with its tiles and incongruous porthole-style windows. A cool spot to hang out as the tropical weather continues.
Don’t expect a great deal of excitement on this blog for a while. This will remain one of the most home-bound periods to be documented on here, for some weeks to come yet. And on days when I am just working at home, with flat, dull light outside, it’s time to start trying things with colour and form.
Unlike most days I didn’t take my camera with me when going out into the city tonight, for my Friday night out – so all pictures that could have been taken were taken in the Kookaburra Inn, my hostel, where I stayed all day working. I like the frosting on these open windows, and the way the light is catching them, their different colours and so on. And there’ll be plenty of chances to take photos of Brisbane at night over the next couple of weeks, I’m not going anywhere particularly.
This has not been an active couple of days. I have spent almost all of both of them at home working. Fortunately I have yet to exhaust the photographic possibilities in the immediate area. This is the factory across the street (see also 5th September, for instance), looking to me like the cover of Led Zeppelin’s finest moment(s), the Physical Graffiti album. But perhaps it’s been a long year, not to mention 33 hours in the house on my own not talking to anyone, and I am starting to hallucinate.
Being 42
