At the end of all this, how long before we are able to feel comfortable with each other again, physically close? Even the dogs are getting the message.

So, the longest number of consecutive Hebden Bridge shots on this blog — as faithfully recorded on the stats page — is 10, and that was way back around the end of 2011 and start of 2012. (Blimey, have I been doing this that long…?). The trip to Manchester last Saturday gave the present run a later start than it might have had, but as things stand the eleventh day will be 1st April, and assuming we’re all still here on 6th April, it will then take Brisbane’s record of 15 days in a row in the same place.
Ah, I’ll get used to it. It’s pleasant enough at the moment, in the ongoing very fine weather.
“Where have all the humans gone, duck?”
“I have no idea. But isn’t it quiet. And isn’t the air feeling clean?”
Another less-than-exciting day in this rather gloomy and light-free Easter break. Managed a short walk in the woods in the afternoon but that was about it. This is the waterfall that spills out from under the bridge at the top of the woods, taken from above, looking down from the bridge. It has turned out more of an abstract and I’m not sure that it says anything in particular but at least it’s different.

I feel I’ve shown what I wanted to show about this tree, so that gratifies me.

After a horribly cold spell — we had snow last Friday, though it didn’t get depicted on here (too depressing) — spring seems to have re-installed successfully. This is good news.
Why ‘yoga tree’? Something about the way this one is stretching its whole body and two arms up to salute the sun?
Worked at home today, and tried to enjoy doing so as it’s my only chance this week. The weather relented, at least for today, and it was quite sunny and pleasant. I took a walk in the woods at lunchtime for the fresh air and while I did a most delicate rain shower came down, just for half a minute or so and backlit by wan November sunlight. This shot has probably turned out a bit too messy to be quite the capture I wanted it to be, but it was my best attempt in the moment.
Utterly glorious day today. I suspect the chances of the rest of November being like this are remote, but hey, we can hope.
Welcome to day 1,500 of the blog, One and a half thousand days turns out to be 4 years, 1 month and 8 days in old money. The path through Nutclough Woods was closed for ages as the flood defenses at the bottom were rebuilt (three years after they were needed); but it is now open again, so let’s use this milestone date to celebrate that fact. The weather has turned autumnal, but the trees remain in summer green for now.
It snowed again. A lot. Enough to make it kind of enjoyable, and that’s why I like this picture — the look of pleasure on Clare’s face. OK, let’s self-criticse about the tree growing out of her shoulder, but hey.
