Tableau on Bute Street

Thursday 19th March 2026, 9.40am (day 5,320)

Bute Street tableau, 19/3/26

Seen on my walk back to Cardiff station for my train home. This was one of those where, had I not already had my camera out and ready, I would never have got it. For once, a litter bin is not a detriment, but an active constituent of the shot. It’s a shame the crossing isn’t showing a green walking man though, but we can’t have everything.

Although it always strikes me that the answer to this question in fact depends not on one’s innate optimism level but on whether the glass in question was currently being filled, or drained.

Fire escape, Høgskolen i Bergen

Thursday 1st October 2015, 10.15am (day 1,498)

Fire escape, 1/10/15

Popped over to Norway on my way home…. I like this shot because for perhaps the first time ever not only does a litter bin not spoil the shot, it is absolutely crucial to it.
