There is not a great deal going on in life at the moment; the weather is poor and it feels like dead time at the end of what has, admittedly, been a rather extended summer, at least in personal terms. But like these kids, I’ve gone ‘back to school’ — not that I find it any easier to accept than they probably do.
Looking at this evening’s sky, you don’t have to be a professional meteorologist to confidently predict that a downturn in the weather might be forthcoming.
A pleasant afternoon. Too bold with the tree trunk — too much sunlight? Well, perhaps I am feeling bold. Time passes, as autumn progresses it will not be long before this scene will no longer be lit at 5pm on any given day.
No commentary to make, really — just a well-lit scene that I liked, as we all went our respective ways on this Saturday afternoon. I will note that today was the penultimate day of my 40s however…
An empty stage, with a performance presumably to take place shortly — whether the gathered audience are in the mood for it or not on a Sunday lunchtime.
This somewhat alarming example of the taxidermist’s ‘art’ was on display at the flea market in Hebden Bridge this afternoon. So many questions are begged I am not sure I know where to start. The rather evil-looking rodent descending from top left raises its own issues, too.
A sign that I have passed many times over the last years, and yet never depicted on here before today. Is there a reason for this — either way? Probably not. Was the message apposite today? Also probably not, but I like it anyway. I have got on many wrong trains down the years, as I’m sure we all have. Yet here we all are.
To culminate a good weekend, a night out, to the cinema to see Late Night (which is pretty good by the way). A late night in blog terms anyway — the latest photo in a day since 1st March. But still not quite a dark sky, thanks to the summer solstice an’ all. Clare makes her way home on a photo that is perhaps a little blurry and confused, but so was I at this point.
With seven of the last eight shots, including this one, being taken in Hebden Bridge, and with a distinct lack of people in them, you can deduce that on the whole I have been indoors writing. It’s gone well, but it doesn’t make for very exciting photography. I am reduced today to a shot of the lights for the roadworks outside our house, which I’m sure drivers will be happy to hear had no sign of human presence today either. Only the lights were putting the hours in.
