New tram lines, St. Peter’s Square

Thursday 3rd November 2016, 9.05am (day 1,897)

Tram lines, 3/11/16

Another shot of Manchester’s slowly developing transport infrastructure — but I’m in Manchester a lot this month, so get used to it. Anyway, I like this one, particularly as I didn’t have to crop it at all, so got the symmetry just right when the shutter was pressed. A kind of ‘played for and got’ moment.

The new tram line

Monday 11th January 2016, 3.05pm (day 1,600)

Tramline works, 11/1/16

This nice round-number blog post is marked by yet another shot of Manchester city centre’s ongoing building works — a theme that is becoming recurrent, because they just never seem to end…

Mosley Street, Manchester

Monday 22nd September 2014, 3.45pm (day 1,124)

Mosley Street, 22/9/14

Balloon Street, Manchester

Tuesday 21st January 2014, 9.15am (day 880)

Balloon Street, 21/1/14

Yet another beautiful morning. What a difference a year makes — on 21st January 2013, Hebden Bridge was under several inches of snow. This is Manchester, and customers of the Co-Operative Bank who have long seen ‘1 Balloon Street’ as the corporate address on their correspondence may be vaguely interested to see that this is, indeed, Balloon Street itself. Part of Co-op HQ on the left and (I think) right, the Shudehill bus station straight ahead, and the morning sun doing its best to reach around the corner (the patch to lower right being a reflection). No cars run along this street now but yes, I did check that no trams were coming before I got the shot.

Tramlines, Manchester

Thursday 12th September 2013, 2.30pm (day 749)

Tramlines, 12/9/13

I’m a little disappointed with the sharpness of the background but there’s a long zoom on it to get the right depth of field so I guess one can’t have everything. The focus is just a bit further forward than intended. Otherwise I like the sinuous sweep of these tramlines, as they come down past the G-MEX centre and head towards the city.
