Saturday 28th October 2017, 3.10pm (day 2,256)

Clare in treatment room, 28/10/17

Seeing as I didn’t manage to put one of the wife up for her birthday on Thursday here is one to compensate. Clare inspects her new treatment room down in town, let’s wish her luck for a successful venture…

Lunch (jigsaw) break

Thursday 1st June 2017, 1.40pm (day 2,107)

Jigsaw break, 1/6/17

Exciting times in the household as the jigsaw map of Brighton that was a Christmas present is finally finished five months later. With all three of us present to witness this stellar event, you can tell it’s the half-term holiday. Life doesn’t get more uneventful than this.

Clare in the White Lion

Sunday 30th April 2017, 5.35pm (day 2,075)

Clare, White Lion, 30/4/17

The wife…. and a small square thing in the wall. Looking good after a day working at the Hebden Bridge burlesque festival which is in town this weekend. Well, she’s looking good, not sure about the small square thing.

Reconnecting with the family

Saturday 21st January 2017, 3.40pm (day 1,976)

Clare and Joe, Railway, 21/1/17

It’s nice to travel, but it’s also nice to come home. So the family can feature on the blog for the first time for a while (as a duo, anyway). Not much is going to happen in the next few days, and it doesn’t look like we can expect the sun out, so I foresee more of this kind of thing.

(nearly) Empty breakfast room

Monday 24th October 2016, 8.20am (day 1,887)

Breakfast room, 24/10/16

On Sunday morning this room was full, but clearly Clare and I were the only people who felt like extending their stay at the Arundel Park hotel into Monday morning. What the hell, it’s been an excellent weekend.

Family gathering

Thursday 11th August 2016, 5.00pm (day 1,813)

Family gathering, 11/8/16

As I start back at work on Sunday, I would like to make the most of the remaining days of the holiday; hence today’s family gathering. My Dad (well, some of him) makes his fourth appearance on the blog; my Mum (somewhat shamefully, perhaps) her second, Clare and Joe, you know.

Clare on Blackburn station

Saturday 14th May 2016, 11.40am (day 1,724)

Clare at Blackburn, 14/5/16

Congratulations to my parents, Ian and Angela Whitworth, on being married an amazing 50 years today: 14th May 1966 saw them hitched in Dukinfield, Cheshire, so today was their Golden wedding anniversary. But the picture of the day has to be this one of my gorgeous wife chilling out on platform 2 of Blackburn station while we waited for the train to join the party this lunchtime. A good day was had by all I think.

iPad breakfast

Monday 21st March 2016, 7.40am (day 1,670)

iPad breakfast, 21/3/16

I’m sure this is a sign of the decay of Western civilisation or whatever, but hey, at least we’re all around the same table at the same time.

Early picture today — in fact, the earliest true morning picture since 5th August last year (in Tanzania).

Tea break

Tuesday 16th February 2016, 9.40am (day 1,636)

Llangollen cafe, 16/2/16

Broke the drive back from Aberystwyth at this cafe in Llangollen, north-east Wales. Clare and Joe ponder the meaning of the universe or possibly just a very good few days.

Clare, Saturday night out

Saturday 6th February 2016, 9.30pm (day 1,626)

Clare at Trades, 6/2/16

It’s been months since there was a proper portrait of the wife on this blog, so let’s make up for it with this shot from our night out at the Trades Club (‘Nutclough City Limits’). Clare seems to be enjoying the evening despite the fact that a small woman appears to be dancing on her belly.
