Raffle prize

Koala in cinema

More inaccurate replication of some animal or other — koalas are just not this big, or this colour, though nevertheless, that is what it is supposed to be. 4th prize in the Christmas raffle of the Hebden Bridge Picture House (£1/ticket, if you’re interested). This was very early in the evening: the place filled up by the start of the movie, which was Conclave: very good (another unsolicited advertisement).

Koala (kind of)

Koala toy, 5/5/13

I have seen a few real koalas: most in captivity, including at the Lone Pine zoo here in Brisbane (where I also saw the cassowary); the only one I have seen in the wild was spotted on Kangaroo Island. This toy looks far more awake and alert than most of the real ones do, they are such dozy beasts. Maybe it’s the beer, or the frigid pipe on which he’s sat.
