Agricultural produce

Sunday 16th September 2012, 1.40pm (day 388)

Apples and keys, 16/9/12

Been a good weekend for celebrating nature’s bounty. After the rare wildlife of yesterday, more commonplace flora today. Yet, with a decent blackberry harvest from the garden and verges as well, there was tonight’s pudding, further proof that the best things in life are free.

The last edible thing in the garden

Monday 2nd January 2012, 12.45pm (day 130)

Leek in garden, 2/1/12

Another day spent mostly inside, working, and I saw about 15 seconds’ worth of sunlight today. Fortunately at that point I was outside, getting my one dose of fresh air today, up at our allotment garden (Hebden Bridge being what it is, our garden is a few minutes’ walk away from our house). What to photograph in this one burst of light? Only one candidate really – the last edible vegetable remaining there from last spring’s planting. I like leeks, not just because they taste good but because they just keep growing, and even my black fingers (the opposite of green fingers) don’t seem able to prevent this.

Garden fungus, Hebden Bridge

Saturday 10th September 2011, 12.30pm (day 16)

Garden fungus, 10/9/11

I nearly put up a picture of the Championship table, to show the mighty Brighton & Hove Albion FC top after yet another win. Who knows, perhaps that will be my last chance. But I suspect not. So we’ll have a picture of this impressive fungus instead, which might not be there next week either.
