Steam cleaning, MOT

Thursday 9th June 2022, 11.50am (day 3,941)

In Batley, 9/6/22

If this garage did ever offer the services suggested here, it doesn’t do so any more. This abandoned lot sits near Batley rail station, a town making its debut on the blog today, albeit unglamorously. The nob graffito is the final touch.

Garage, Burnley (not Turf Moor)

Thursday 8th November 2018, 5.20pm (day 2,632)

Burnley garage, 8/11/18

The town of Burnley has nearly 75,000 people in it and lies less than a dozen miles from my house, so one might have expected it to have appeared on the blog more than three times in the last seven years — and all three of them (6/4/12, 1/19/12 and 22/11/15) were taken at Turf Moor, the home of Burnley FC. Is there much other reason to go to Burnley? Not if the evidence of my life is anything to go by, but I did find cause to visit today for non-footballing reasons. The garage was nothing to do with it, but I do like the scene, even if there’s not quite the desired symmetry to the shot.

Brooklyn Garage

Thursday 18th December 2014, 9.20am (day 1,211)

Brooklyn garage, 18/12/14

I dunno, you wait ages for a garage to come along and then there’s two in a week. Prosaic trading establishments of Hebden Bridge is definitely the theme of the moment.

Garage, Valley Road

Friday 12th December 2014, 4.15pm (day 1,205)

Petrol station, 12/12/14

Another one of those scenes I pass almost every day but which has never made it onto the blog until now. I like it though, the third post in eight days to basically be trying to get a certain symmetry from an everyday urban scene (so the little things which break it, the hub caps and the lamppost, irritate slightly). Don’t expect a great deal more excitement than this over the weekend, by the way.
