Warrington was the intermediate stop on today’s journey. Which way on from here? Left & further south? Right, and eventually north? Do we score 45 points one way and 100 points the other? And the wiring looks just as complex as it did yesterday…

Manchester Piccadilly, the unglamorous end

Another railway station, but this is more one of those shots where I was just trying to get the various horizontals and verticals to come out true: and for once I think I have managed it, although is there just the slightest curve on the tracks? If I never said that, however, perhaps you would not have noticed.

Platform 5, Crewe

Railway stations often give good photo — particularly when they are massive, Victorian palaces of rail, like Crewe, which is one of the biggest provincial stations in the country. If I didn’t live on the other side of Manchester you’d almost certainly have seen this place before, as everyone changes trains here at some point. As it is, this is the place’s debut on the blog. I like the red lights reflected in the wet platform and the misty haze beyond (in fact it’s raining heavily here, as it was everywhere in north-west England, yesterday morning).

Halifax tracks

Halifax’s transport infrastructure seems to have become a recent theme. At least, this is a sign that I am still moving around the local area, including on a Sunday. I like the complexity of the layout here, the bendiness, but tied together by the point mechanisms.

Working on Sunday

These guys were not the only ones working on this Sunday — though at least I combined my bout of labour with a trip to York for pleasant social reasons. But that journey contained no photos that I liked, so we’ll go with this one, captured a few minutes before getting on the train to said destination.
