Stallholder, Saturday market, Hebden Bridge

Saturday 24th May 2014, 11.15am (day 1,003)

Pet stall owner, 24/5/14

Motivating myself to keep things going after 1,000 days is not helped by being on (for me) a reasonably long run of time just in Hebden Bridge and Manchester. From 16th May until 15th June this is basically where I am. Hard to find new scenes, but I don’t think this one has made it before — the entrance to the occasional Saturday craft fair (which has been pictured from inside in the past, but never from here).

Tinsel fire, Holme Street Arts Centre

Sunday 18th December 2011, 11.10am (day 115)

Tinsel fire, 18/12/11

Two nice things today. Sold a photo (framed) to someone who wanted it as a photo, and not as a Christmas card or calendar. And when I showed yesterday’s photo of her hands to the spinning lady, she bought a copy of it too. Which was very satisfying.

The spinner’s hands

Saturday 17th December 2011, 12.05pm (day 114)

Spinner's hands, 17/12/11

Another craft fair. I did OK. It’s a two-day event – back there tomorrow. As will be this lady, carding and spinning wool from the local hillsides. Looked like a lot of hard work. Taking photos is much easier – at least physically. Selling them? That takes work.

At the craft fair

Saturday 12th November 2011, 11.25am (day 79)

Craft fair, 12/11/11

Never done one of these before. Having no idea what to expect it was a surprise to see quite how sour- or dead-faced many people are as they shuffle past, or how unwilling many are to acknowledge a ‘hello!’. Others (stallholders, customers) very friendly and encouraging, however. I did not lose money once all things were accounted for and it was an interesting learning experience.
